He stopped using Fruity Loops!! That SELLOUT!
Lol..sike naw..jokes..
9th Wonder was one of the first producers to wave the computer production flag though, making Fruity Loops (now known as FL Studio) famous in the hip-hop & rap circles when he hit the scene as part of the group Little Brother in 2003.
9th went on to produce for some of the biggest names of this generation like Jay-Z, Mary J Blige & Destiny’s Child using a $90 dollar program on the computer, the untimate example of it’s not what you use but how you use it.
Fast forward to now and you’d be hard pressed to find music NOT made by computer software, plugins & vst’s like the ones available in my free plug in section, whether it’s FL Studio, Reason, Kontakt, Logic or whatever.
This clip shows 9th actually taking it back to the Akai MPC (looks like the MPC 1000 in the video.)
If anything, this video shows that it’s doesn’t matter what machine you use, it’s the mind behind the machine. I can’t tell between this MPC beat, and his previous Fruity Loop beats, it’s dope regardless.
